Tweens & Technology Workshops

Tweens & Technology Saturdays are FREE events around the Triangle area of North Carolina that introduce young students to various parts of technology.  These events range from the following:

  • Augmented reality
  • Accessible coding for children with Autism
  • Electricity
  • How computers work
  • Python
  • Virtual reality

Virtual & Augmented Reality Showcase

Garner Optimist Club

2110 Vandora Springs Road Garner, NC

Join us as we work with Google Cardboard devices and explore this fun form of technology!  We will also give a presentation to showcase the difference between virtual reality and augmented reality.

Grade Levels 4-8

Registration is postponed due to COVID-19.  We may convert this to an online event.

September – Clayton

Accessible Coding for children with Autism

Clayton Location TBD

We have created a new accessible coding event for children with autism.  We will dim the lights and make sure that the environment is setup properly for this event.  Our students will learn how to code using building block technology and have an opportunity to create art.

Most technology experts get their start as children by dissecting devices!  The exercise of taking items apart and putting them back together builds a foundation that lasts a lifetime.  We are happy to provide this opportunity to children across the area.   This event also includes an introduction to electricity and how magnets work!
